After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive through the forest zone to Kumasi, the historic seat of the Ashanti Empire.

Arrive in Kumasi late afternoon and explore Manhyia Palace—the former official residence of Ashanti Kings (Asantehene). Now a museum, it houses precious artifacts related to the Ashanti Kingdom.

Transfer to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay and dinner.

Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Box Lunch, Dinner
Hotel: Oak Plaza Suites in Kumasi

After breakfast, you have the OPTION to attend a church service before the day’s other activities begin.

Later today, you will visit the main craft villages of the surrounding lush countryside of Kumasi.

Our first stop is Adawomase, a craft village where we will witness the time-honored tradition of handcrafting Kente Cloth on looms. Explore various Kente styles and even make purchases. We might also pay a courtesy visit to the paramount chief of this community.

Next, we will visit Ntonso, where artisans hand-stamp patterns on cotton cloth to create Adinkra Textiles. These black-on-black and black-on-red fabrics are worn during funerals and solemn occasions. Learn about the black dyemaking process from tree bark and create your own Adinkra sash to take home. You can also purchase large pieces of handmade Adinkra Cloth.

Return to the hotel hopefully with a few great bargains and prepare for this evening’s dinner at one Kumasi’s best restaurants.

Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner
Hotel: Oak Plaza Suites in Kumasi

After breakfast, we will head to the Central Region. Our first stop is Assin Manso Slave River, a significant site where the remains of two former slaves from the U.S. and Jamaica were re-interred during Ghana’s Emancipation Day Celebration in 1998. At the “Slave River,” captured Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles, awaiting shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean.

We’ll continue our journey to Cape Coast, with rest stops along the way.

Upon arrival in Cape Coast, we will visit Cape Coast Castle—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the Castle Museum and learn about its history. Don’t miss the touching “Door of No Return.”

Later in the afternoon, we will proceed to Elmina. Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Box Lunch, Dinner
Hotel: Lemon Beach

Before breakfast, enjoy a 60-minute yoga and meditation session by the beach with a certified instructor.

Later this morning, explore Elmina Castle—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This thought-provoking monument held more enslaved Africans than any other in the region. Experience an emotional journey through its dungeons and witness the infamous “Door of No Return.” Inside the castle, a historical museum explains its past and that of Elmina. You can also purchase literature on Ghana’s forts, castles, and cultural traditions.

At the castle, participate in the Fihankra ceremony. It aims to reconnect people of African descent to their motherland, healing centuries-old cultural and spiritual ties denied during the transatlantic slave trade.

The final part includes a naming ceremony at the Elmina Chief’s Palace. (ALL ARE REQUESTED TO BE IN WHITE)

Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Dinner
Hotel: Lemon Beach

After breakfast, explore Kakum National Park—one of Ghana’s most renowned parks. Take a brief forest floor walking tour where you may see birds, butterflies, and the diverse wildlife of over 40 mammal species including monkeys and the elusive forest elephant.

Next, prepare for an exhilarating experience—the canopy walks. Kakum boasts Africa’s only aerial walkway through the tree canopy. This 1000-foot-long walkway features seven bridges and viewing platforms that reach heights of over 150 feet above ground.

Late morning we will return to Accra, arriving early afternoon.

Tonight, enjoy a specially arranged farewell dinner with entertainment.
